“The Welcoming” is a very fast-paced novel. Nora Roberts is the author of this brilliant novel. The Welcoming novel has a great storyline and character development. This romantic novel has all the things needed for a love story to make a lazy summer day just that much more enjoyable. It proves the potential Nora Roberts has shown in all the books she has written. Her plots have grown more complex, her characters more developed. This is an enjoyable beginning. Love occurs at first sight, which is necessary considering how short the book is. Love is expressed within the time-frame of a single day. Within a week, marriage is proposed. Naturally, the heroine is in some peril, from which the hero must save her. However, in a nod to the author’s future trademark self-reliant heroines, she has a hand in saving herself. As with any Harlequin, love conquers all and there is a happy-ever-after in store for Charity and Roman. In the end, “The Welcoming” is a good plotline, several strong characters, with plenty of romance, makes this book a good read.
