“The Time Keeper” is a great book about the discovery of time. Mitch Albom is the author of this book. This author’s unique writing style, the mysterious way he’s exposing the plot, along with his ‘simply-told’ lofty concepts, is most likely the reason he’s garnered accolades for this book. This is an insightful read. It shows a teen’s thinking on suicide and an elder’s thinking of death from cancer. Father Time is portrayed as a prehistoric man who was driven to count and measure to the exclusion of all other interests. As his wife is dying, he is trying to reach the gods of the sun and moon in order to beg for more time. He is punished by God with imprisonment in a cave from which there is no escape and must listen to thousands of voices begging for more time. The prisoner finally etches on the cave walls symbols for his wife and children and their family moments. Realizing these moments are more precious than time. At this point, he is placed in modern time and tasked to help the teen and the elder. A story that makes one think about how important hope is in our lives.
