The Sketches of Irish Character is the first book of Anna Maria Hall in 1829. Anna Maria Hall was born in Dublin into Anglo-Irish gentry. Later she moved to London. Her husband becomes a motivation for her to continue writing. At the age of fifteen years, she becomes famous for her book, travel writing, and plays. Sketches of Irish Character: by Mrs. S C Hall (Chawton House Library: Women’s Novels) is her first book which made her famous and a household name in 1929. In the year 1844, the Sketches of Irish Character was revised and published again. Anna Maria has written a wide range of novels and other literature on numerous topics such as drama, comedy, religious, and children stories. She has a strong descriptive writing strength which took her to the heights of success. This is her most popular debut to her native Ireland. This novel draws on to her early memories of childhood in Wexford on a variety of characters of Irish people with beautiful illustrations.
