“Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay, and a Mother’s Will to Survive” is an amazing book about a single mom with a girl. The women breakup the boyfriend and finds work as a house cleaner to pay the bills. The work is arduous and the wages little over minimum wage. Stephanie Land is the author of this book. In this book, the author explains that this book illuminates the struggles of poverty and single-motherhood. The unrelenting frustration of having no safety net the ways in which our society is systemically designed to keep impoverished people mired in poverty. This is an excellent story of what it’s like to be a single mom living in poverty. It is written from the heart and with deep thought. It also touches on what it is like to be in a mentally abusive relationship. The author is the epitome of the victim mentality. This is a great pick for social justice allies and advocates, psychologists, and others in mental health fields, and book clubs. This is a really great thought-provoking read that will make you grateful for basic things. This incredibly bleak book is also incredibly beautiful. The plot is beautiful and well written. We would highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in a thrilling murder mystery.
