Love is expressed within the time-frame of a single day. Within a week, marriage is proposed. Naturally, the heroine is in some peril, from which the hero must save her. However, in a nod to the author’s future trademark self-reliant heroines, she has a hand in saving herself. As with any Harlequin, love conquers all and there is a happy-ever-after in store for Charity and Roman. In the end, “The Welcoming” is a good plotline, several strong characters, with plenty of romance, makes this book a good read.
