Crowdsourcing

Why does Procter & Gamble repeatedly call on enthusiastic amateurs to solve scientific and technical challenges? How can companies as diverse as iStockphoto and Threadless employ just a handful of people, yet generate millions of dollars in revenue every year?"Crowdsourcing" is how the power of the many can be leveraged to accomplish feats that were once the responsibility of a specialized few. Jeff Howe reveals that the crowd is more than wise–it’s talented, creative, and stunningly productive. It’s also a perfect meritocracy, where age, gender, race, education, and job history no longer matter; the quality of the work is all that counts. If you can perform the service, design the product, or solve the problem, you’ve got the job.But crowdsourcing has also triggered a dramatic shift in the way work is organized, talent is employed, research is conducted, and products are made and marketed. As the crowd comes to supplant traditional forms of labor, pain and disruption are inevitable, and Howe delves into both the positive and negative consequences of this intriguing phenomenon. Through extensive reporting from the front lines of this workplace revolution, he employs a brilliant array of stories to look at the economic, cultural, business, and political implications of crowdsourcing.

Whiplash

“Whiplash” lingers long after you turn the final page. Catherine Coulter is the author of this novel. The author’s excellent storytelling skills could be judged by this impressive and amazing novel. The author starts the novel with some beautiful characters and then added more characters to make a good pace for readers. The story of the novel is clearly brilliant and easy to understand as each character is connected with others so strongly and in a most entertaining way. It completely lives up to the hype. All the characters were believable and interesting and frightening. Its plot is unique and well written from multiple perspectives, but not too many where you were getting confused. It keeps you guessing and would slowly reveal little clues to keep you interested. This book could get a little graphic for some because it does deal with child murders, so be warned going in that it is not for the faint of heart. But if you are looking for a thrilling ride that makes you feel like you need to watch behind your shoulder then this is your book. This book is how all thriller and horror books should be like creepy, thrilling and page-turner. Excellent plot points and follow through with so many twists and turns. That said, if you are looking for one of the best and most entertaining kidnapping thrillers, we highly recommend you to bag this book.
