Clouded
The “Clouded by Envy” is a twisted and dark urban fantasy that will make you care what you wish for. Candace Robinson is the author of this novel. Clouded by Envy is a creative tale that follows the life of a set of twins from childhood to early adulthood with all the good and bad in between. From the start of this story, it is very clear that Brenik, the younger brother, cares for his sister but he also harbours much jealousy towards her. Envy is in his every thought and it colours his judgment in almost every situation. His sister, Brayora, on the other hand, is an amazing big sister with a beautiful inner brightness. She loves her brother very much and only wants to keep him happy and protected. From the start, there is a clear juxtaposition between these two characters and the differences only deepen as they grow up on Earth after escaping from their homeworld of Laith. Brenik’s envy and desire to be more than what he is created to drive him to make terrible choices that put him on a path of destruction. A path that took him away from his sister. Bray was concerned for her brother but she too is on her own path of discovery and it wasn’t until they were reunited that she realized just how far he had strayed from the brother she had known. Despite the darkness she saw in him, she never gave up on Brenik but in the end, would it be enough to save him from himself? This story is a very creative fantasy that has its moments of rightness and wickedness.
