Mistborn

The “Mistborn Trilogy Boxed Set (Mistborn, The Hero of Ages, & The Well of Ascension)” is an amazing book to anyone who enjoys good fantasy, and political intrigue. Brandon Sanderson is the author of this book. The author is very detailed in describing the world the characters inhabit but even more interesting is the magic that exists in this world. It is an awesome series with an expansive world and a deep yet accessible magic system. This is a fantastic trilogy. It contains many of the standard fantasy elements you’d expect (a hero, a mentor, an all-powerful evil villain, magic, etc), but the storytelling sets this one apart. The 2nd and 3rd books are full of twists and turn to leave you surprised how often the author gets you to think you know what’s going to happen and takes the story in a different direction. For a story with so many mysteries that leave the characters guessing the author does a great job of answering those questions for the reader. The magic system is unique and entertaining and the characters well developed. Overall each book tells a distinct story that melds together very well in the end.

The Way of Kings

“The Way of Kings” is a fantastic story of fantastical foreboding leading to finding the truth. Brandon Sanderson is the author of this book. The Way of Kings is an interesting book and looks like a great intro to a new series. The author Brandon’s storytelling is wonderful. The world he has created is very unique and vibrant, just like the characters. The interactions between the characters themselves and the world are well done and entertaining. Dialogue and interaction are intense and captivating, while asides or thoughts of the characters are insightful and intriguing. The harmony of the world story and the characters’ stories forming into one is very well written and flows wonderfully. Brandon Sanderson’s “The Way of Kings” is truly a masterpiece in the world of epic fantasy novels. The book inhabits a strange, almost alien, world that feels fully justified. Plant life and fauna reflect the nature of the world’s weather patterns and geography. The history, culture, architecture, and mannerisms portrayed throughout the book’s societies are believable and fascinating. Sanderson’s 20+ years of imagining and re-imagining the story and world of the Storm light series produced one of our generation’s greatest and most realized worlds. The characters themselves pop out the pages to confront you with their blatant realism and extremely interesting interactions with the world around them. Their toils with those around them and with themselves create an ever-progressing story that leaves you satisfied for the book in a holistic sense. What’s important here is that the world seems to “move on” in its own pace. The main characters aren’t the only ones participating in the current events of the story, creating a twisting story which seems to have a life of its own. Ultimately words can do this book no justice, as it faces each and every problem that modern epic-fantasy novels face (especially when dealing with realism in spite of its fantastical qualities) and checks it off with resounding satisfaction.

Oathbringer

The “Oathbringer: Book Three of the Stormlight Archive” is an excellent standalone book and, of course, an awesome piece of the cosmere story. Brandon Sanderson is the author of this book. It is another excellent book by Brandon Sanderson. A brilliant story and the characters are all wonderful. In addition to the primary books, there has also been one novella released as part of the series called “Edgedancer”. While the novellas may not be completely necessary to read and understand the overall series, Edgedancer certainly provided further insight into the character of Lift which in turn made her more enjoyable in Oathbringer. Words of Radiance

The “Words of Radiance: Book Two of the Stormlight Archive” is an interesting Words book, which attract you. Brandon Sanderson is the author of this book. A compelling sequel, Words of Radiance will help position The Stormlight Archive as a classic in the world of fantasy. This is an awesome book, and this series enough – if you love long, epic fantasy, you owe it to yourself to read this book, and the series it belongs to, right away. A truly unique and original epic fantasy. Words of Radiance are fantastic, and almost anthropological at points, in its scope. Words of Radiance are a follow-up that rivals the original work. Sanderson’s plot line does not suffer from some of the pacing issues that plague his other novels, though he still drives the story in such a way that leaves the reader feeling like she was riding an avalanche. His characters develop in exciting and sometimes unexpected ways, and the interludes in the story introduce characters far beyond Sanderson’s typical archetypes. As story lines converged at the end of the previous novel, Sanderson has now demonstrated a keen ability to shift seamlessly between perspectives as the story in Words of Radiance unfolds. The thoughts that guide characters actions are handled with care, and Sanderson successfully expanded this world vertically and horizontally. Readers are treated to further depth in familiar characters and a fulfilling introduction to others. Like Sanderson’s characters, the magic system in this world grows and become more refined throughout the story. Readers will appreciate the ways that science and magic interact in a fantastic world. They will be aching to turn the pages to see how Sanderson builds action-packed scenes that make readers feel as if they are present, and potentially in mortal danger. Words of Radiance are an epic continuation of the story. More is revealed about the history of the land. And more is revealed about the future as well. The world Sanderson creates is unique in fantasy. That alone is a monumental accomplishment. The magic is constrained by rules, and some elementary magical technology is possible. Reality is malleable, within limits.

It has a satisfactory ending which is a little predictable but ties up all the loose ends. Some of the male characters are a little too good to be true but that doesn’t spoil any part of the story. The author switches between the two time periods effortlessly and easily which doesn’t always happen in these kinds of books. Each storyline had a richness that was only strengthened by the comparison and contrast to the other. The book certainly brought all the feels, and elements of all characters. Throughout the novel, the story is smooth and generally moves along well.
